Surrey has a range of leading facilities and resources that allow it to conduct world-class research in a broad array of fields. These include those housed at Surrey Research Park, a major centre of excellence in technology, science, health and engineering and home to over 110 companies ranging from start-ups through to HQs of technology companies. The University’s 5G Innovation Centre (5GIC) is now the largest UK academic research centre dedicated to the development of the next generation of mobile and wireless communications, working with key industry partners (including Huawei and Fujitsu, also located in the Thames Valley) to achieve this. The Surrey Space Centre is the world’s leading research centre for small, low-cost space missions.
The University’s School of Veterinary Medicine, which was opened in October 2015, is the newest veterinary school in the UK. Whilst embracing the traditional values of professionalism, scientific curiosity and clinical excellence, they are also developing a school with broad horizons. Its extensive network of partners in clinical practice, industry and research opens up unique learning opportunities for students and for industry-relevant research. Its global outlook ensures an international perspective on all aspects of veterinary science.
