Slough: The Best Place to Work
THE CURVE, SLOUGH
Slough has been named the best place to work in the UK for the second year running. The Berkshire town in the Thames Valley retained its top spot on the list based on its ease of finding a job, relatively high average salaries in comparison to living costs in the area, employee satisfaction and cost of housing.
“Slough is now firmly established as one of the best areas in the UK to work because of its consistently high employee satisfaction and job opportunities relative to its population. It is also home to a huge range of employers. With plans now agreed for Heathrow’s third runway and the new Crossrail in 2019, its growth potential is very positive.”
Amanda Stansell, Economic Research Analyst – Glassdoor
Job search website Glassdoor, which named Slough the most desirable place to work in Britain, looked at three factors when investigating areas, including cost of living, hiring opportunity and overall job satisfaction.
“Slough has continued to evolve over the years and it’s no surprise that it has ranked in first position for the second year in a row. With a thriving business community, regional infrastructure links including an array of projects that will make the area even more popular, and fantastic schools that are ranked among the best in the country, it is easy to see why it has become the town of choice for many. Finally, it’s Slough’s time to shine as a vibrant town.”

Other Thames Valley towns were featured in Glassdoor’s 25 Best UK Towns and Cities to Work In for 2018, including Swindon, Oxford and Reading, with the latter making it into the top five.
