South African businesses are strongly embedded in the UK; their own Chamber of Commerce is based in the country and holds an annual Business Awards event.
The SA Chamber of Commerce is an umbrella organisation and conduit for trade, community and investment into and out of South Africa. The SACC aims to bring under one concerted effort, a forum and meeting point for businesses who have an interest in both the UK and South Africa in an attempt to facilitate the development of business opportunities.
Examples of South African companies in the Thames Valley include Johannesburg-based Bidfood (formerly part of Bidvest). Its state-of-the-art Business Support Centre and depot on the Slough Trading Estate were opened in August 2016 to provide increased capacity for growth, create additional opportunities for employment in the local area, and improve the level of service the company offers its customers.
