In January 2020, Boris Johnson hosted the UK-Africa Investment Summit in London which brought together businesses, governments and international institutions to showcase and promote the breadth and quality of investment opportunities across Africa.
In the lead up to the UK-Africa Investment Summit, £6.5 billion of commercial deals were already signed by British companies to deliver jobs, growth and investment across the UK and Africa. The Summit is expected to mobilise billions of pounds in private sector investment for Africa, marking a new era of trade between the UK and Africa.
The Summit strengthened the UK’s partnership with African nations to build a secure and prosperous future for all our citizens. It also mobilised new and substantial investments to create and boost mutual prosperity.
