High praise for Thames Valley companies in Legal 500 and Chambers UK Directories

15:00 18 December in News

Major Thames Valley-based firms have been recognised as top-tier law practices in the latest editions of both the Chambers UK and Legal 500 listings, the leading guides to law firms in the UK and internationally.

Penningtons Manches LLP have been commended in the Legal 500 in 16 areas, including Education, Employment, Environment and Immigration and awarded ‘Band 1’ rankings by Chambers UK in six areas, including Corporate/Mergers and Acquisitions and Intellectual Property.

Commenting on this recognition, Rob Hayes, Partner, Corporate at Penningtons said:

“Our impressive rankings echo Penningtons Manches’ financial results for 2017-18, which mark our ninth consecutive year of growth. This autumn, independent legal sector analysis described the firm as ‘leading the way’ and ‘the strongest’ in terms of growth, surpassing every other firm in its peer group’.”

Blake Morgan also performed strongly in both directories. In this year’s Legal 500 directory, the firm has received tier one rankings in 15 practice areas across the firm’s Oxford and Reading offices – including Corporate and Commercial, Employment, Family, Commercial Property, Local Government and Education.

In the Chambers UK guide, seven teams from the Thames Valley and South were ranked in the top band for quality and service, including the firm’s Employment, Family, Planning and Intellectual Property teams.

Mike Wilson, Managing Partner at Blake Morgan, said:

“We’re delighted with the listings this year – it’s been another year of strength for our teams across the Thames Valley.”

Blandy & Blandy are highly ranked in Chambers UK for Family Law, Corporate/Mergers & Acquisitions (M & A), Employment, Property, Litigation and Licensing. In the Legal 500, the firm is recommended across an impressive 14 practice areas, featuring in the top tier for four of these, including Planning and Environment. Areas where the firm is highly recommended include Corporate and Commercial, Employment Law, Commercial Property, Licensing, Commercial Litigation, Insolvency and Recovery and Property Litigation.

Reacting to these excellent rankings, Brenda Long, Chairman and Partner, Blandy & Blandy LLP said:

“We are delighted that our clients and peers continue to acknowledge and appreciate our expertise and experience and our commitment to providing outstanding client care. This is firmly reflected in the excellent feedback we continue to receive, through a series of rankings, accreditations and awards, and in the number of recommendations that we receive from other professional firms in the Thames Valley.”

Boyes Turner have been awarded a tier 1 ranking in the Legal 500 across ten areas, including Corporate and Commercial, Employment and Media and Entertainment and a top rating by Chambers UK for Clinical Negligence, Personal Injury, Information Technology and Insolvency.

Boyes Turner CEO and Partner, Andrew Chalkley said:

“We’re extremely proud and honoured to have received such distinction within the industry, and it is a true testament to the hardworking team of lawyers within Boyes Turner. We are committed to giving all of our clients a dedicated top-quality service, all while remaining open and transparent along the way to ensure we meet and surpass their expectations. Our dedication to the Thames Valley region will remain of top importance, and we’re excited to continue to grow with the community, providing the best service along the way to all those in need.”

B P Collins‘ environment practice maintains its band one ranking in Chambers UK for a third year after a strong 12 months. The Corporate and Commercial team has also retained its top tier status, as has the firm’s Family team.

Senior partner, Simon Deans commented:

“Another successful year for B P Collins’ Chambers UK rankings. I’m delighted with the large number of practices and individuals who have been able to maintain and progress to the highest rankings. But what really stood out are the independent endorsements from clients who value our personable and straightforward manner and a commercial approach when it’s needed. Relationships with our clients really matter.”

In the Legal 500, the firm’s Corporate and Commercial, Commercial Litigation, Employment, Family, Personal Tax, Trusts and Probate, and Environment practices continue to retain their tier one status, while Commercial Property increases its ranking to tier two.

This year Doyle Clayton has been again ranked highly for Employment Law and Immigration in London and number one for these in the Thames Valley. The firm is also now ranked best in class in the UK for its work advising the education sector.

Reacting to the news, Peter Doyle, Doyle Clayton’s Chief Executive said:

“The fact that all of our Partners and nearly half of our total legal advisers are or have been recommended or ranked as leading individuals is extremely pleasing. And along with feedback from the directories saying that we are “an amazing team”, have “outstanding responsiveness and commerciality” are “a real pleasure to work with” and “the best of the best” I can see why The Times recently in its review of the UK legal market placed us firmly amongst the country’s premiere firms.”

IBB have also been recognised by the Legal 500, with their Corporate and Commercial team having been awarded the highest ranking by this directory.
