14:45 03 September in News

Plans for a £40 million revamping of Swindon town centre, including two new 20 and 24 storey skyscrapers has had a widely positive response.

The ambitious plans by FI Real Estate Management were unveiled to the public on the 17th July 2019 with the proposed redevelopment consisting of expanding 30,000 sqft along Canal Walk as well as, the creation of a multi-use leisure space, including restaurants, cafes and other commercial amenities, providing an opportunity to enhance the current shopping arcade.

The two buildings are estimated to provide around 280 one- and two-bedroom apartments.

“We are hugely excited about our plans to regenerate and make better use of this prominent site by working in partnership with Swindon Borough Council, our tenants, businesses and the local community. The retail landscape of town centres is rapidly changing, and it is crucial that we adopt an innovative approach to meet the demands of people in Swindon. This emerging scheme will be subject to further discussion with the local planning authority following the consultation feedback and prior to submission of an outline planning application”.
