Sustainable Business - Commit to a sustainable future

Business sustainability is the ability for business to improve competitiveness, market share and profitability without compromising resources for future generations.

While our strategic vision is for the Thames Valley to become the knowledge capital of Europe, it has to develop in a sustainable way in business, social and environmental terms.

Thames Valley businesses are already taking the lead in their commitment to sustainable business. For example:

  • Microsoft purchases 100% renewable electricity at its main office in Thames Valley Park
  • Oracle has achieved ISO 14001 certification for environmental management and plans to reduce electricity, gas and water use by 5% over the next 2 years.
  • Vodafone has reduced CO2 emissions from its network, offices and stores by 60%

TVEP aims to promote best practice in sustainability, sharing information and ideas to assist Thames Valley businesses in making informed decisions on improvements that will general environmental, cost, business and reputation benefits.

A TVEP focus group of public and private sector companies created the Green Travel Toolkit, a guide to best practice in reducing travel impact.
