Thames Valley iFestival 2008

Nearly 4000 delegates attended 49 events across the inaugural Thames Valley iFestival

For 2008, TVEP launched the first ever Thames Valley Innovation Festival, the ‘iFestival’.
We aimed to create one of Europe’s largest innovation festivals, appealing to businesses, students and school-children, promoting the importance of being innovative, inspiring future and current innovators and connecting innovators with those who can help them with their ideas and plans.

Taking place from the 10th to the 28th November 2008, TVEP developed a programme aiming to run at least 25 events, engage with 25 private and public sector partners, attract 1,000 businesses, 200 school children and 200 undergraduates.

We worked with partners to develop a festival programme to involve:

- A major Business Innovation Conference on the 11th  November set to attract 600+ participants.

- An early “taster” event – The Innovation Leaders Summit.

- Social and networking gatherings. Thought pieces and key addresses by leading innovators.

- Thames Valley Business Awards

- Sessions on idea generation, creativity and raising funding for businesses, innovation leadership, breakthrough innovation and open innovation.

- Sessions and visits on science and engineering careers run by key Thames Valley companies.

- Events on green business and innovating in low carbon environments such as that sponsored by Kyocera.

- “TeenTech” – a day of activity-based and fun events involving ‘hands-on’ innovation for school-children.

- Leading businesses ‘opening their doors’ to host visits.
