Will the Olympic ‘bounce’ continue in Reading Thames Valley UK?

Wow!

As the curtain lowers on what was undoubtedly a stunning London 2012

I wonder whether that collective Team GB feel good factor can be harnessed, whether we can build on the collective momentum of goodwill and be proud to have hosted a first class global event?

Right now if Team GB were a town I’d liken them to Reading.

Suprising? Think again.

Reading is one of the top performing economies in the UK, regularly cited by independent think-tanks as an economy that punches way above its weight – as Nicola Adams has proven you don’t have to be big to pack a punch.

Energetic

Our economy never stands still. A constant stream of new investment and investors bring renewed energy and vibrancy. A university in the top 1% globally provides a constant stream on new talent, new ideas and innovation – and a host of Olympians to boot! That’s why over 20% of all international investors to the South East choose Reading

Ambitious

Reading has a long standing reputation for growth and for getting things done. GreenPark, The Oracle and Madejski Stadium were the cornerstones of our renaissance – Reading Station, Station Hill and the Science Park underpin phase two. ICT, business and financial services, energy and pharma-bio are key sectors – alongside a bustling busy regional retail and leisure offer – so, like Jennifer Ennis the sum of our talents makes us a global success.

Inclusive

As we prepare once again for the iconic Reading Festival Reading is used to ‘welcoming the world’. Home to a cultural rich mix of diverse communities and businesses from across the globe we are renowned for our welcome, our spirit of integration and our celebration of culture.Like Team GB Reading provides the environment, the culture, the platform for success.

Our sporting credentials are impressive too – Reading provided medal winning rowers (naturally, being on the Thames), hockey players and canoeists to Team GB.

With Reading Football Club back in the Premier League Reading will once again be on the world stage – hopefully with as much success as Team GB.

So if you’re thinking of setting up in the UK why not consider Reading?

  • 26 minutes from Central London
  • Direct access to London Heathrow
  • Highly skilled and motivated workforce
  • Easy access to markets, to peers, to clients
  • A great quality of life

The FT’s renowned FDI Awards voted us the Micro City of the Future 2012/13 – and 5th best location overall – alongside London, Paris, Vienna and Moscow – another podium finish for us.

To close – huge congratulations to Team GB – you’ve inspired a nation and done us all proud – thank you.
